Halloween in Bangkok: 7 Tips to Organise a Party That Works
Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, October 31. That makes it one of the busiest nights of the Bangkok calendar, and the venues people want are already filling up. Whether you are planning a team party, a costume birthday or a night out with friends, a few decisions made early will save you most of the stress.

1. Choose your date carefully
Saturday the 31st is the big night, and it is priced like it. Thursday the 29th and Friday the 30th also have plenty going on, with many parties running across the whole week. If you are flexible, a Thursday or Sunday evening usually gives you more choice and a calmer room.
For a company party, a late Friday afternoon works well. People dress up, enjoy it, and still get home at a reasonable hour.
2. Book now, and get the full price in writing
With Halloween this close, rooftops and bars with a view go first. When you request a quote, ask for the all-in number. Service charge (usually 10%) and VAT (7%) often come on top of a minimum spend or hire fee, which adds 17%. Also ask whether Halloween has a special minimum spend, because many venues raise it for that weekend.

3. Ask what decoration is allowed
Venues have rules. Fog machines can set off smoke alarms, candles are often banned, and fake blood or confetti is a cleaning problem. Ask what you can bring, what the venue provides, and how much time you get for setup and breakdown. It is better to agree on this in writing than to find out at 6 pm.
Keep the decoration respectful. Halloween is not a Thai tradition, and spirits are taken seriously here, so avoid joking with Buddhist imagery or spirit houses.
4. Pick a format, not just a venue
Halloween in Bangkok goes well beyond the bar. Popular formats this year include themed dinners, rooftop parties with skyline views, costume brunches, river cruises with a DJ and immersive nights with performers.
For a group of 20 to 60 people, a private room with a good sound system and a clear dress code often beats a big club. You control the music, the schedule and the guest list.

5. Put the dress code in the invitation
Say whether costumes are required, encouraged or optional, and give the theme if there is one. Costumes are easy to find: Bangkok malls stock them from mid-October, and street stalls near nightlife areas sell cheaper ones.
A small incentive helps. A costume contest with a prize gets people to commit. Keep a no-costume option so nobody at a company party feels forced.
6. Plan the evening, not just the room
A good Halloween event has a rhythm. A welcome drink on arrival, food within the first hour, a costume vote or a game in the middle, then music. Add one or two non-alcoholic options, and food that fits the theme. Without a plan, the first hour is awkward and the last hour drags.
7. Think about getting home
Halloween Saturday means heavy traffic and ride apps on surge pricing. Choose a venue near a BTS or MRT station if you can, and tell your guests when the last train leaves. Costumes on public transport are fine in Bangkok, but face paint and long capes are less fun at midnight.
